SYNOPSIS

       As far as the genre of contemporary dance is concerned, today in cultural space of Ukraine there is a total information vacuum. Desultory information, which comes to Ukraine in the form of rare tour projects of foreign dance companies is not sufficient and concentrates mostly in Kiev and does not reach other regions. Also there is no developed infrastructure (professional companies and managers, special events, journalists and critics, information resource centers, qualified teachers) where subject of interest and research would be Contemporary Dance, art that is undergoing the period of fast development worldwide.

      At the same time the experience of the Contemporary Dance Centre DRUGIE TANTSI (OTHER DANCES) that has been acquired for 10 years of its creative activity in Dnipropetrovsk definitely is a good evidence of dynamically increasing interest of young people to professional learning of globally popular dance techniques, one of which is break dance.  

      Because of organizational and financial difficulties, disproportion and total destruction of a state system called to support children creative work, hundreds of Ukrainian boys today have no basic conditions to practice dance, no possibility to communicate with each other, exchange ideas and experience, show their professional achievements.
An opportunity of systematic education as part of a joint creative process with professionals from other countries of the world is viewed by them as an unreachable dream.

      From our point of view, the existing situation determines urgency and timeliness of arranging in Ukraine annual
International Break Dance Festival “BREATHTAKING – UKRAINE”.
     International experts who’ll evaluate the level of professionalism of
young Ukrainian dancers and lead workshops, will be the invited dancers,
i.e. winners of popular international break dance battles.


Festival Tasks:

1. to create the precedent of systematic purposeful professional platform of communication between the young generation of Ukrainian dancers and their foreign colleagues;                    
2. to offer the opportunity of professional development to those young

   people who would like to chose or have already chosen a creative
profession as a field of their social career.

The expected results of project realization :     

1. filling in the informational vacuum in the field of youth hip-hop dance     

culture in Ukraine
-  practical help in professional formation of young generation of dancers
and choreographers;

2. making a creative process more active as a result of accumulating and mastering of professional information, its creative thinking over in the course of communication with the professionals of the genre from other countries.
